WORKSHOP
What if it were me?
Experiencing Limitations to Better Understand, Prevent, and Promote Inclusion
How can we foster a deep and lasting awareness of the consequences of an accident or disabling illness on personal and professional life?
The “What if it were me?” workshop offers a unique sensory and physical immersion by exposing participants to real-life simulated disability scenarios: vision loss, limited mobility, wheelchair use, temporary deafness, and more.
Through these immersive experiences, participants physically and emotionally grasp the impact that a disability can have on simple daily activities, both personal and professional.
They also gain awareness of the value of preventive measures, the importance of inclusion, and the collective role in supporting individuals with disabilities.
This workshop is part of a broader approach to occupational risk awareness, as well as a component of the company’s social and human responsibility strategy.

Workshop Programme
1Sensory Immersion: Simulated Disability Experience
Participants face various simulated limitations using specific equipment: blindness simulation glasses, earplugs, wheelchairs, knee or arm braces, etc.
They are asked to perform simple tasks (opening a door, writing, picking up an object, navigating a space, making a phone call, etc.) under these conditions, directly experiencing the loss of functional abilities.
Objective: create immediate and physical awareness of what it means to live with a disability.
2Analysis of a Typical Day
3Emotional Debrief: Feelings and Realities
A group discussion allows participants to express their emotions: frustration, discomfort, loss of bearings, need for assistance, etc.
This moment is key to fostering genuine empathy and questioning unconscious behaviors of exclusion or neglect towards people with disabilities.
4Prevention and Personal Responsibility
A dedicated session covers simple preventive measures: workplace vigilance, compliance with safety instructions, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), stress and fatigue management, etc.
Participants are encouraged to reflect on the question:
“What can I do every day to prevent this from happening to me or my colleagues?”
The workshop thus links risk prevention to the tangible reality of disability, fostering a shared culture of responsibility.
5Inclusion: Understanding to Take Action
Finally, the group collectively develops a set of concrete actions to better integrate people with disabilities into the professional environment: adapting spaces, non-verbal communication, offering assistance, collective vigilance, etc.
This final phase reinforces the idea that inclusion is a collective skill based on simple but meaningful actions.
