Village des Bonnes Pratiques MASE 2026
CCI Seine Estuaire · Le Havre · C2D Prévention will be present with a dedicated stand
1. A Selection That Honours — and Commits Us
We have the privilege of having been selected to participate in the Village des Bonnes Pratiques MASE 2026, taking place on Wednesday, May 27th at the CCI Seine Estuaire in Le Havre. For the C2D Prévention team, this is far more than a presence at a trade event: it is recognition of a daily commitment to supporting companies in the areas of health, safety and the environment (HSE).
This article is an opportunity to share everything you need to know about MASE certification: what it is, what it offers, how it differs from other frameworks, and how C2D Prévention can help you obtain or strengthen it.
“Safety is not merely one component of a company. It is a principle to be embedded within its organisational culture as a defining element of its identity.”
2. What Is MASE Certification?
MASE — Manuel d’Amélioration Sécurité des Entreprises (Company Safety Improvement Manual) — is a Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) management system framework. Of French origin, it was born in 1996 around the Étang de Berre, where industrial players from the petrochemical and chemical sectors joined forces to improve safety standards for companies operating on their sites.
In 2007, the MASE and France Chimie (UIC) frameworks merged to create the joint MASE-UIC standard, now recognised across many high-stakes sectors: energy, construction, industry, nuclear, food processing and industrial logistics. A new V2024 version was published in October 2024.
In short: MASE certification is a trust label that demonstrates your company has a structured, operational and continuously improving HSE management system. It is mandatory for companies wishing to work on certain upper-tier Seveso sites.
A Certification Grounded in Operational Reality
Unlike more generic standards, MASE takes a deeply operational approach: its auditors do not stay behind a desk — they go to your worksites and workshops to verify that safety rules are genuinely applied day to day. This concrete rigour is precisely what makes it a particularly credible framework in the eyes of clients and principal contractors.
3. What Is MASE Certification For ?
Obtaining MASE certification is first and foremost about protecting your employees — and your company. But the benefits go further:
Reducing workplace accidents The framework requires rigorous risk analysis and concrete prevention plans, which mechanically drives down accident rates.
Accessing new markets Many industrial clients require MASE certification as a prerequisite for tender submissions. It is a genuine commercial passport.
Reducing workplace injury and occupational disease costs Fewer accidents means a direct reduction in your workplace injury and occupational disease contributions. The return on investment is measurable.
Enhancing your reputation MASE certification is a strong signal of professionalism and social responsibility towards your clients, partners and employees.
Structuring your HSE approach The framework provides a clear structure for organising, documenting and continuously improving your health, safety and environment management.
Strengthening safe co-activity MASE is specifically designed to manage the risks associated with external contractors working on industrial sites.
4. The MASE Framework: 5 Structural Pillars
The MASE framework is built around 5 key chapters covering every aspect of a company’s HSE approach:
1 — Management Commitment and Involvement Defining a clear HSE policy, driven by leadership, with measurable objectives and allocated resources. This is the foundation of the entire system.
2 — Staff Competence and Qualifications Equipping every employee with the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to carry out their role safely.
3 — Control of Activity-Related Risks Identifying, assessing and managing HSE risks during the performance of tasks, works and services. Includes prevention plans and risk assessments.
4 — Evaluation and Lessons Learned Measuring the effectiveness of the management system through indicators, internal audits, accident analysis and field feedback.
5 — Continuous Improvement Periodically reviewing the entire HSE management system and driving it forward. MASE is built on the PDCA principle (Plan-Do-Check-Act).
Certification lasts between 1 and 3 years depending on audit results, conducted by firms accredited by the MASE National Strategic Council. A 3-year certification is the hallmark of a robust and mature system.
5. MASE vs ISO 45001: What Are the Differences?
Many companies hesitate between MASE certification and the ISO 45001 standard. Both frameworks share the same overarching goal — improving health, safety and working conditions — but their approaches differ significantly.
Criterion | MASE | ISO 45001 |
Origin | French (1996, chemical/petrochemical) | International (2018, all sectors) |
Approach | Operational and field-based, focused on means deployed | Systemic and process-based, focused on strategic objectives |
Primary target | Subcontractors on high-risk industrial sites, co-activity | Any organisation, all sectors including services |
Geographic scope | France (strong recognition in chemicals, energy, construction) | Worldwide (185,000+ certificates issued globally) |
Structure | 5 chapters, concise approach | 10 chapters, HLS structure compatible with ISO 9001 / ISO 14001 |
Audit | Field audit included, locally accredited MASE committees | Accredited certification bodies (COFRAC possible) |
Certification duration | 1 year (initial) or 3 years depending on audit result | 3 years, with annual surveillance audits |
Environment | Included in the framework (HSE) | Not included (requires separate ISO 14001) |
Seveso sites | Often mandatory to operate on site | Not sufficient alone in this context |
Our advice: The choice between MASE and ISO 45001 depends on your sector, your clients and your ambitions. The two are not mutually exclusive — some companies pursue both. C2D Prévention helps you analyse which certification best fits your situation.
6. The Village des Bonnes Pratiques MASE 2026
Organised by MASE Île-de-France Normandie Centre, the Village des Bonnes Pratiques is an unmissable annual event dedicated to Health, Safety at Work and the Environment. For its 2026 edition, it will take place on Wednesday, May 27th at the CCI Seine Estuaire in Le Havre.
The event showcases the concrete and innovative initiatives of MASE members. The day’s programme includes:
- Member stands: presentation of HSE best practices and real-world experience sharing
- Institutional partners: OPPBTP, CARSAT Normandie, FRTP Normandie and other sector experts
- Sponsored external companies: new in 2026 — dedicated stands presenting innovative HSE tools and services
- Interactive conferences and workshops: Nutrition, Neuroscience, Mental Health Prevention and many more topics
- Live demonstrations: to test and see concrete prevention solutions in action
It is in the “sponsored external companies” category that C2D Prévention has been selected — recognition of the value of our approaches and the relevance of our tools for companies seeking to obtain or strengthen their MASE certification.
7. Who Is the Village des Bonnes Pratiques For ?
This event is open to all companies, whether already MASE-certified or in the process of working towards it. It is of particular interest to:
Industrial companies and subcontractors Companies operating on petrochemical, chemical, energy or nuclear sites where MASE certification is often mandatory.
Construction and civil engineering companies MASE certification is widely adopted in the construction sector, particularly for contracts with demanding principal contractors.
HSE / QHSE managers Safety directors and managers looking to structure, improve or certify their HSE management system.
SME and micro-business leaders MASE is particularly well suited to small and medium-sized businesses that want to commit to a structured HSE approach without the complexity of an ISO standard.
Managers and supervisors Anyone with a safety leadership role in the field: site managers, foremen, industrial team leaders.
Companies beginning their HSE journey Organisations that do not yet hold a certification but wish to discover best practices and start their path towards MASE.
8. Why C2D Prévention Is Your Ideal MASE Partner
Being selected for the Village des Bonnes Pratiques is no coincidence. At C2D Prévention, we have developed expertise and tools that directly address the requirements of the MASE framework, while grounding them in the human and behavioural reality of the field.
Our approach: neuroscience in the service of safety
What sets C2D Prévention apart is the integration of neuroscience applied to risk prevention. Understanding how the brain works — its biases, its automatic responses, its relationship with risk — allows us to develop prevention strategies far more effective than purely documentary approaches.
The result: our clients do not simply “tick boxes” for the MASE audit. They develop a genuine safety culture, embraced at every level of the organisation, that outlasts audits and staff changes.
Our services directly aligned with the 5 MASE pillars
Single Risk Assessment Document & prevention plans (pillar 3) Preparation of your DUERP, risk assessments and prevention plans in compliance with MASE requirements.
CAP© Method: diagnosis & strategy Our 4-phase method (Understand, Structure, Deliver) guides your MASE journey from start to finish.
Training & awareness (pillar 2) HSE, first aid, manual handling, psychosocial risk training — designed to embed the right reflexes.
Behavioural audits — Safety Observation Visits (pillar 4) Safety observation visits, safety briefings, toolbox talks — the core of MASE pillar 4.
Lasting safety culture (pillar 5) KBInfusers™, safety rituals, interactive workshops — so that prevention becomes a collective reflex.
Root cause analysis & experience feedback (pillar 4) Methodical analysis of incidents and near-misses to eliminate root causes and drive progress.
The concrete results of our support
Our clients report measurable improvements in their safety indicators: reduced accident frequency rates, increased field reporting, stronger engagement from frontline managers. And above all: teams that carry safety as a value, not a constraint.
